This time of year I am itching to pull out the fall wardrobe!
Yet I know I do not want to get too far ahead of myself.
I don’t want to tire of my fall outfits before the season ends.
When we do have those cooler days however it is fun to play with summer to fall transitional items.

Layering is what it is all about.
This sleeveless wrap dress is perfect with a jacket over it when the weather is in transition.
With Kansas weather, it can go from cool to blazing hot within minutes.
Then the next moment back to cool again.
This fun and funky Grin and Wear It Jacket from ModCloth is attention-grabbing!
It’s from Jack by BB Dakota.
With its high-low hem and back pleat, it is unusual and fun to wear.
I think it looks perfect with this wrap dress.
For me, it’s always about the jackets, cardigans, and sweaters.
I adore layering and when the seasons change it is the perfect time to capitalize on using layers.
Having Fun With Summer To Fall Transition:
Enjoy experimenting with wearing jackets with summer dresses and tops.
I selected the Grin and Wear it jacket to pair with this summer dress because it is edgy.
The more hard-edged design of the jacket is juxtaposed to the soft flowing nature of this woodland style dress.
Yet the colors matched perfectly.
What is fun about the seasonal fashion transitions is that it’s an anything goes situation.
Boots with sundresses – Yes! Get my style here.
The Everwood mid-calf boot is water resistant in suede. From Earth Brand Shoes.
Colorful Necklace – Yes!
This necklace is from Houda and is unfortunately no longer available but here is one similar.
I wore wood earrings to compliment my outdoorsy fall look.
While mine was purchased at a small boutique locally you can find comparable here. I actually like the ones I have linked to you more than my own!
Summer To Fall Transition – The Dress:
Speaking of boutique finds, this dress came from another local boutique.
Since I doubt many of you live in Topeka, Kansas I have gathered as much information as I can about it.
The dress is by Paper Plane of London.
In order to have access to their site, you must create an account.
I believe it is mostly for resellers so I did not create one.
If you have a favorite local boutique perhaps you can request they order this dress!

They pair lovely with this dress, with or without the jacket.
When transitioning from Summer to Fall I suggest lower cut boots.
The Everwood boots are mid-calf.
Ankle boots work well too!
Don’t Overthink Summer To Fall Transition
So many of us worry if we are doing fashion right.
I have a very fashionable 22-year-old daughter and only once has she not liked something I paired.
That was only due to a color she was not fond of.
She agrees, when it comes to fashion there are no rules.
If you feel good, you look good!
Mixing and matching clothing items regardless of seasonal transitions should be fun.
Just pull out some items from both your summer and fall wardrobes and give it a try.
Remember to layer as needed for your weather conditions.
Here in Kansas we still have days that are far too hot to delve into my fall items.
Other days it is too cold to wear a sleeveless dress without a jacket!
I usually bring a jacket, cardigan or sweater with me when I leave the house though.
Here if you wait a minute, the weather will change!
Just make sure your look is as fabulous without the jacket, sweater, or cardigan as it is with it!
I decided on pulling these three main elements, dress, jacket, and boots, together because they all have a woodland aesthetic.
The olive green color of the jacket reminded me a bit of a camo army color yet the design is flirty, fun, and fashionable.
The dress, with its trees and bushes, added to that idea. The little burst of purple color in some of the trees give the look a more feminine touch.
My earrings match the shade of my boots and since they are made from wood carry out the woodland aesthetic.
Since I always have to have one “wildcard” item in my look I added the feathery beaded necklace.
This helps bring a little more color to this otherwise muted tone look.
It also brings forward a little of a boho flair which I adore.
