Having a December birthday can be a real shortcoming in many ways.
One of these ways for the past two years has been when my daughter tries getting her birthday gift from Sephora.
Sephora rewards Beauty Insiders with a nice gift set every year for their birthday.
Every year it’s the same thing “I am sorry but we are out”.

Sephora December Birthday Issues:
It has not mattered which store we visit.
My daughter was supposed to have a choice between a Caudalie gift set or a Tarte gift set.
There was also supposed to be a men’s collection of Jack Black items.
My daughter may be a young adult but the mama bear in me was not about to let her cub leave disappointed!
There is nothing worse than sad swatching!
We spend our fair share there every year, and we are both Beauty Insiders.
I have even climbed to the ranks of a Sephora VIB Rogue before.
That just means I spent an insane amount of money with them at some point.
Now I know nothing in this world is free and I do not expect something for nothing.
Yet, it is a perk that is offered.
So instead of walking away this year, I went back into the store.
According to my daughter, I vaporized into thin air lol.
I was on a mission.
Now a little backstory.
Upon Attempting To Get The Sephora December Birthday Reward:
When we first arrived at the store there was quite a line.
My daughter did not have her ID on her.
I asked one of the ladies working there, known as the brunette lady if we could pull her name up in the computer so she could receive her reward.
Happily, the answer was yes.
So we shopped a bit because that’s what happens when we walk into a Sephora.
Then we got into the corral of the tempting point of sale items.
I must say, it was a tight, winding corral!
We waited, slowly moving through great deals on everything a woman could desire until finally, it was our turn.
That is when we were told by a different associate, known as the blonde lady, that they were out of the birthday rewards.
Disappointed, yet again, we walked out.
Never Walk Out Without Your Sephora December Birthday Reward!
That is when I decided NO!
I would not take “NO” for an answer.
This beautiful store full of everything, including samples I know they keep tucked away.
We were not leaving without something!
I walked back in.
At first, I approached the blonde associate that said they were out of the birthday rewards.
Then the brunette lady I spoke with came up to the counter.
I simply explained:
“Look every year we go through this. December is a busy month, I understand, but there can’t be anymore December birthdays than any other month of the year, can there be? I am tired of seeing my daughter let down. Surely there is something that can be done.”
A little back and forth between the two, the blonde explaining to the brunette that they were out, the brunette making a face like, “okayyy”.
Then the brunette looked at me and said, no worries, let me put a gift bag together for your daughter.
My Daughter’s Sephora December Birthday Reward Was Happening!
I was entirely pleased with that!
Even if all she got were some foil packets it was clearly better than nothing at all.
Then I saw her open magical drawers revealing all sorts of goodies!
Not one foil packet either!
This is what my daughter received:
Buxom Lash Mascara 2 fl oz a nice sample size.
OLEHENRIKSEN Balance Oil Control Cleanser 1 fl oz again another decent sample.
Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm 0.4 oz while it does not sound like much it takes very little so still a nice size sample.
Bite Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Rogue 0.5 oz mini sized tube exactly like the full size. Should last a good while.
Makeup For Ever Artist Face Color in Rosewood We both love this color 0.4 oz
Not a bad score overall if you ask me.
We adore Sephora and always will.
It is, after all, a wonderland of all things we love.
What do you think?
Have you ever been told no to a reward you were entitled to?
Do you think I did the right thing?
Would you have demanded something to replace the missing reward items?
Let me know in the comments, please.
And of course, feel free to share!
