Welcome to June’s Happiness Is article from the Happiness Is Series here on the blog. Every month I write one article in this series. The purpose is to remind everyone to find their joy in the simple things life has to offer. Since my birthday was at the end of May this month’s post is about how I spent a birthday funday with my daughter and my mother.
Birthday Funday With The Girls A Happiness Is Series

I spent the day making my rounds about town getting my birthday freebies.
Our first stop, however, was to get a shaver for my pup Lyla.
Her hair has grown crazy long since I got her on Humarian Probiotics.
I can’t believe how much they have helped her skin and coat.
Yet, with our current boiling hot temps, she needs some relief.
After a stop off for that, we continued our funday.
I do have to share with you a funny story though.
While we were shopping, my mother was looking at some planting supplies.
I whispered something to my daughter.
My mother, being the goofball she is asked if we were talking about her.
Looking around I noticed only two people near us.
One lady somewhere around thirty years of age, and an older man, not shopping together.
Now you have to know me, and my entire family’s sense of humor to appreciate this, but…
I decided to just go ahead and say out loud what I had whispered.
So, in a regular voice, loud enough for the lady to hear I said:
“Mom, we were not talking about you. I just told Emma that my insulin pump, which is under my dress clipped to my underwear, was poking out and looked like a penis!”
The lady cracked up laughing, the older man didn’t hear me which I was kind of thankful for.
Of course, my mom and daughter thought it was hilarious once they got past the shock which only took a split second.
Next, we stopped off at a beauty supply shop for a few items my daughter and I wanted.
I spent a whopping 1.99 on tiny rubber bands to put a couple small braids in my hair.
My daughter grabbed some nail products while my mother browsed the clearance section.
We are all value shoppers.
Then it was off to Sephora, which was the highlight of my funday!
They offered two options in store that I could select from.
One was a skincare sample set and another was a Bite Beauty lip set.
I chose the Bite Beauty set.
You may recall I have written about the Sephora birthday gifts before.
This time they actually had them in stock.
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed.
While I love Bite products, I think my daughter’s consolation gift was better.
Check out what she got for her birthday when they were out of the actual gifts by clicking the link above.
And of course, we had to look around a little.
I put on the breaks however once I saw my daughter’s eyes start to glaze over.
She has been trying to save money so we had to get outta there!
We headed to the vape shop to get my free 30mil of vape juice.
Yes, I vape.
I used to smoke over 10 years ago and quit thank goodness!
Before vape became a thing I smoked hookah which is a healthier option as there is no tar in hookah tobacco.
Yet, it was expensive and time-consuming.
While vapor and not smoke it still did leave stains.
Vape is so much better for us than cigs, far less expensive than hookah, and there is no stinky smell.
It smells great actually with no tar so no stained teeth or fingers.
It’s also not smoke, just vapor so no worries of others, including my pets, getting second-hand smoke damage.
If you smoke, I would love for you to consider vaping as an option.
Anyway, that’s not what this is about, just some background FYI.
Food is something I get a lot of freebies for on my birthday.
I had coupons for free food all over town but I had to go to my favorite sub shop.
After getting my 6-inch we were all about ready to head home.
We have such fun together so the party wasn’t really over.
On the drive home, we sang along to music.
We always find something we all love and I already had the perfect CD loaded.
Another thing we did was played a quick game of finding pictures in the clouds.
I didn’t as I was driving but my family cracked me up with what they found.
They decided that they both could see arms extending from one cloud.
My mother swore it looked like another cloud was flipping the bird.
There was cake!
Sort of, lol, my mother made one cake for my brother and me.
His birthday is in early June.
She split the cake and brought me some and took some to him.
We are a frugal bunch.
Besides, I really do not need a whole cake to myself.
If I had the whole cake, I would eat the whole cake!
So that was it for my birthday funday.
My son and his girlfriend, not a girlfriend, just good friend, whatever dropped by later that night.
We had fun and I ended up sending a bunch of cool stuff home with my son.
All of us joked about who’s birthday it was since he took home all the loot.
Oh and I still have a ton of free food to go collect.
I have a month to do so on some and up to a year on others.
So to me, Happiness Is things like this.
We do not need to have a huge party, or go out to clubs, or even go on a fancy vacation.
Happiness is all around us all of the time.
We just have to embrace it!
Leave me a comment, please.
